... I was hit by a car (while walking) soon after posting about bikers getting hit by cars. I am COMPLETELY fine, I promise. The car was turning right at a stop sign and didn't look to see me on the sidewalk/in the crosswalk on his right. He was going maybe 1 mph, and I basically scooted myself out of the way, but there was full car-on-Fiona contact. Pretty scary. But more to the point, it was yet another reminder Atlanta drivers seem not to be aware of non-vehicular traffic. How can we do more to make drivers aware?
OMG Fiona! Glad you are okay. This has happened to me, too, and I've seen far worse. It's unfortunate that we who hold the right-of-way cannot take it foregranted. Eye contact and gestures go a long way and I've even tried (with mixed results) carrying a flashlight at dusk. Be safe out there!
